Orangered Notifier for Reddit App Reviews

36 Customer Reviews:

It is horrible when you dont provide enough information on the app description, or on their (garbage) website; and let people believe that this may be able to check other (e.g. gmail) accounts. I think they should have clearly written: CHECK YOUR REDDIT ACCOUNT). I will give 4-5 stars if that was the case, this is a request to the program developer to work around and make a useful little application. I am very frustrated.

Fine app. As for the first reviewer… it says the word reddit no less than SEVEN times in the description. I cant copy and paste it but the description looks to be only around 50-100 words anyways. That would mean that a whopping estimated 7-14% of the apps description is soely the word reddit. Not to mention its in the title of the app. Is it at all possible that you just didnt read the description or title and made the wrong decision? No? Its not your fault at all? Youre not just an idiot? K, just checking. That was probably the stupidest review I have ever seen on the Mac App Store, and thats saying a lot. Thank you for submitting it though, it was really funny.

Does exactly what it says

I’m not a mod, so I can’t speak on that, but from a regular user standpoint it does what it claim, and it does it well.

This is a really nice program to have running in the background in order to curb your anti-productive tendencies to keep refreshing Reddit. Its even better with the audio option. Now, you can turn on an audio alert that says "orange-red" when a new message comes in. That way, you dont even have to worry about wanting to keep glancing at the icon at the top of your screen. I also like that clicking a lit-up alert icon will take you straight to the new message or post. All in all: highly recommended.

I love Reddit. It is the best website for geeks like me. I get all my news from one place: Reddit. So I brought this application. And I regret doing so. I know two bucks is not a lot of money today, considering inflation and the value of the U.S. dollar, but spending an extra two American dollars on an application that I will uninstall and delete from my laptop is in my opinion a huge bother. Especially considering that I am a poor college student! The reason for why I am unhappy with this application is simply and very imporantly because the application did not let me log into my account.

its very desecrate and from what I can tell uses almost no system resources (0.5% CPU and 10.8 MB RAM at the most) and alerts me when I get orange-red, I would rather it have been free, but thats the general consensus for just about everything. The only complaint that I have is that it doesnt have settings for people with multiple accounts, or if it does they arent easy to find. Other than that though its perfect. So i guess if you spend a lot of time on reddit, and would like to know when youre orange-red without having to stay on the site, or refresh the page I would say its worth the three dollars.

So I was recently modded to a rather large sub (for a non-default at least) and checking my mail and modmail on a timely basis became very important. Luckily I found Reddit Notifier, which has served me very well in that regard. Notification time is quick, and clicking on the icon takes you to the relevant inbox. Also the dev is very responsive, and is considering implementing a feature request just because I asked him about it. Excellent application that does exactly what I needed.

Id give this a five star rating, but it keeps making me re-log without me having even restarted, and I have no clue why. Other than that though, only thing Id like is for it to be a full reddit Menu Tab app, á la Facebook or Gmail.

Tiny little app, does what its supposed to, and doesnt try to be anything its not. One thing that impressed me is that the developer seems to be following security best-practices- The username/password is stored in Keychain, and all connections are SSL. Its fast, lite, and it works well. Nicely done.

This app is incredibly useful. It lets you respond to messages quickly. Instead of seeing the icon and going "Oh, Ill do that later" you go "oh Ill do that now."

I am speechless! I am without speech. This app is fantastic. No more checking reddit to see if someone left a comment, now reddit checks on me! Karma, here I come!

Perfect little add-on

I first tried KarmaBox and it kept crashing. Switched to this one, and Ive been quite happy. Its simple, and gets the job done.

Ive always loved this app, so I was very happy to see it updated to use Notification Center. ★★★★★... so much better than all the free versions. Spend the 3 bucks, its worth it.

Just works.

The app does exactly what it says - and integrates with the desktop nicely so its not obnoxiously intrusive or quietly missing in the backgroud.

If theres one thing I look for in a good app its simplicity, and Reddit Notifier certainly has that. Love the fact that it has Notification Center support, customizable sound alerts, and a clean unobtrusive icon. Fantastic work.

Der_Bogenschütze · 13 years ago

It works flawlessly. It is not resource intensive so it does not effect my workflow in the least, notifications are very discreet, and it opens the message in a browser window allowing you to immediately type a full reply. If you already have a browser window open it will simply open a new tab in that current browser, without disturbing what you are currently working on.

Works just fine

This is a good app and it works the way its supposed to.

Well done little app, nice integration into notification center, configurable, etc. The only thing I think it could use is multiple account support for those that have more than one reddit account.
